Are we human? Almost. Do we maintain our integrity at all time? Heck yes! Do we make mistakes? Yes (although less than most in our own defence!) Are we available 24/7? Hell No (we also like a beer you know, although we will always try to help after hours if we’re not too drunk.) Do we use website templates to design? No, we leave those for the amateurs! Do we work for free? Only if you’re a registered charity and have been approved by our board. Do you take pride in your work? We’re geeks ok. This is what turns us on! Can we baffle you with tech talk? In one second we can have you shaking your head in utter confusion! (Although we are also proficient in describing technical issues in layman’s terms if this isn’t a bet). Do you outsource your work? Never never never (unless Vide E coffee for our clients is classed as outsourcing?) Do you wear suits? Hein wore a suit in 1986 and didn’t like it. Since then it’s not been a work requirement and he certainly hopes that future fashion trends or circumstance do not dictate differently. Are you expensive? We are in business to make a profit, however we also guarantee that we will always provide the best solution to match your costs and requirements. We estimate that we fall within the top 10% of web designers in South Africa for value, the top 5% for product knowledge and the top 1% for service and integrity. Do you require deposits/ upfront payments? In an ideal World, no. With long standing clients, no. With new accounts, yes we always require an upfront payment of at least 50% of the project cost. For Troubleshooting work we require payment upfront based on estimated repair time. Unfortunately we cannot put in either hours or weeks of work and then have projects cancelled or halted for whatever reason (as we would soon be bankrupt). So how do you bill for Rent a Geek work? We assess the estimated hours required to repair your computer and request a proof of payment for 50% of estimated time (or 1st hour if job is estimated as a quick fix) to start the job. Once the job is completed we ask the client to sign off the job. We then upload the fix once proof of final 50% payment is received. Note that we currently charge R250 per hour or part of to repair computers remotely (ditto for telephone consulting fixes). Are you available for Birthdays, Bar Mitzvah’s, weddings etc? We’re always up for a good party, and will consider all extra ways to make money, however web design is in our blood and computer programmers don’t usually make good dates (unless you view our cyberspace profiles which are pretty impressive). In all honesty it’s actually better if we’re kept in our darkened rooms and just left to do our thing.............
